Fundraising

Become a Supporter:

By making a donation to THV you will enable us to continue to help the ill-treated and neglected horses and ponies that are so much in need of care. There are so many more horses that need our help. We have the land available to rescue them. All we need now are the funds to pay for their care.

You can donate just £2.00 per month to ensure all the horses have a secure future. This will cover running costs for the year and allow the charity to help more horses and ponies in need

Our Sponsorship Scheme:

This is an ideal way to help the horses and ponies at the Centre who, through no fault of their own, are not able to be re-homed and will spend the rest of their lives in our care. A modest amount of £15 per year will help us with veterinary fees, food, housing and care for the individual horse or pony that you choose. In recognition of your valued help, you will receive a certificate, a photo of your horse or pony and a history of its circumstances. We will also update you during the year to tell you how he or she is doing. You can also visit your special horse or pony at the Centre, either at our annual open day or by appointment, please give us a call so we can arrange a suitable time.

Weetabix 1 in a 1000 appeal

Due to the economic climate we are having to tighten our belt and make financial cuts where we can. Our administration is undertaken by volunteers but the cost of postage and printing etc has risen so we have made some changes to reduce our outlay. Our "Weetabixs one in a thousand appeal" is no longer available as stated this is because of the extra cost entailed with printing the coloured certificates. We still desperately need regular donation of £2.00 per month and you can still do that by requesting our standing order mandate. This will not affect the donors who already give through the "Weetabix one in a thousand appeal"; it just means we will not be giving out certificates for this in the future.

Thank you to Chris Seal and his helpers for their time manning the street collections and to all those who made a donation at the various towns where they were held.

Mobile Field Shelter

In order to keep costs to a minimum all of our stables, stores and field shelters are built by volunteers from reclaimed materials.

We would, however, like to purchase a mobile field shelter  and are currently raising funds for this. A mobile field shelter that will enable us to have more flexibility to accommodate the horses and ponies over the winter months. This will enable us to take in more horses (funds permitting) as we wil be able to use the fields that we have available but have not had the funds available to to erect shelters. This will also allow us to move our residents to temporary shelter if the ground around their permanent shelters becomes muddy and 'poached'. If you would like to donate for this cause we would be very grateful...just remember to write 'field shelter appeal' when you send your donation and we will ensure that your contribution is donated to this cause.

Local Volunteers fundraising and raising awareness of THV...

We also want to carry on with our work of helping equines in distress and lobbying for improved welfare - campaigning for revisions of the laws regarding tethering, exporting horses for meat (our native ponies have been subjected to this awful trade for many years) as well as raising awareness of how to keep horses and ponies happy and healthy.

THV is run on a very small budget and every penny received is put to invaluable use in helping the animals in our care. All donations are prioritised to directly benefit the horses and ponies. Volunteers and trustees of the charity undertake administrative work therefore costs are kept to a bare minimum.

We would like to do so much more:

So much has been achieved, yet there is so much more to do. For instance, we need an all-weather area so we can exercise the horses and ponies ‘whatever the weather’ during their rehabilitation period and also to re-train those who can be fostered through our loan scheme.

To raise more funds we would also like to construct a small wooden gift shop and information area at the Centre. However, at present our funds are so meagre that the all-weather area and gift-shop are out of the question for the foreseeable future.

Thank you !
