STOP PRESS...STOP PRESS Can you help boost Weetabix's '1 in 1000' Appeal...? Many thanks to everyone who has supported this appeal so far. We are up to 43 supporters...but this is a long way off our target of 1000. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ WEETABIX SAYS.... "ARE YOU '1 in a 1000' ?"
Hi, I’m Weetabix... I was really poorly earlier in the year but my carers never gave up on me and paid for x-rays, vet’s fees and a special diet. Now I’m so much better again and running around my paddock chasing my best friend Molly like I did before. The love and compassion I get comes for free but the care I need has to be paid for. I know that funds at THV are really low and we need to make sure that there are enough funds to continue paying for my care and the care of the other horses and ponies here at our centre. So that’s why I’m looking for 1000 special people to donate just £2.00 per month to make sure my friends and I have a secure future. This will cover our running costs for the year and allow the charity to help more horses and ponies in need. ...The Horse's Voice were there to care for Molly and Me when we were in need...PLEASE help our carers to help other horses and ponies that are waiting to be rescued.
If you become one of our ‘1 in a 1000’ supporters you will receive a special photo certificate showing your unique '1 in a 1000' number and a personal note of thanks from me, Weetabix. We will send you two newsletters a year to let you know how things are going. You will also be invited to our supporters’ open day in August when you can meet me and all my friends looking our best. Please become one of our special '1 in a 1000' supporters by emailing your name and address to us and we will send you a special application form to complete. Thank you! With loads of love from Weetabix xxx
Many thanks to those of you who have become one of Weetabix's special 1 in a 1000 supporters. So far we have 40 people supporting this worthwhile cause but we need a lot more. Please contact us for further information by emailing us at info@thehorsesvoice.org.uk or writing to The Horse's Voice, The Trees, Leicester Road, Husbands Bosworth, Leicestershire, LE17 6NW.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ JOIN US AT OUR OPEN DAY SUNDAY 3rd AUGUST 2008 1.30pm to 3pm After the rain that led to last years open day being moved to the village hall we are praying that the weather is good this year. Please keep your fingers crossed.
But please note that in the interests of animal welfare, no pets (dogs etc) can be brought to the centre or left in parked cars.

£476.73 raised by HSBC for Field Shelter Appeal. June 2008 - HSBC at DeMontfort Street in Leicester generously supported The Horse's Voice Mobile Field Shelter Appeal and dontated £xxxx. The money was raised by employees donating cash to 'dress-down' for the day. Many thanks to Sally and her colleagues, the donation is greatly appreciated and has been added to the Field Shelter fund.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Indian Meal raised £785.50 June 2008 - A successful fundraising event at Little India was attended by over 80 supporters of The Horse's Voice rescue and rehabilitation centre. £785.50 was raised from the sale of tickets and a popular raffle. Many Thanks to Anne and her helpers for organising this event, her fundraising efforts are very much appreciated.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mobile Field Shelter In order to keep costs to a minimum all of our stables, stores and field shelters are built by volunteers from reclaimed materials.
We would, however, like to purchase a mobile field shelter and are currently raising funds for this. A mobile field shelter that will enable us to have more flexibility to accommodate the horses and ponies over the winter months. This will enable us to take in more horses (funds permitting) as we wil be able to use the fields that we have available but have not had the funds available to to erect shelters. This will also allow us to move our residents to temporary shelter if the ground around their permanent shelters becomes muddy and 'poached'. If you would like to donate for this cause we would be very grateful...just remember to write 'field shelter appeal' when you send your donation and we will ensure that your contribution is donated to this cause.
* * * * * * Local Volunteers fundraising and raising awareness of THV...
We also want to carry on with our work of helping equines in distress and lobbying for improved welfare - campaigning for revisions of the laws regarding tethering, exporting horses for meat (our native ponies have been subjected to this awful trade for many years) as well as raising awareness of how to keep horses and ponies happy and healthy.
THV is run on a very small budget and every penny received is put to invaluable use in helping the animals in our care. All donations are prioritised to directly benefit the horses and ponies. Volunteers and trustees of the charity undertake administrative work therefore costs are kept to a bare minimum.

Become a Supporter:By making a donation to THV you will enable us to continue to help the ill-treated and neglected horses and ponies that are so much in need of care. There are so many more horses that need our help. We have the land available to rescue them. All we need now are the funds to pay for their care. Click here for a supporter form. We would like to do so much more:So much has been achieved, yet there is so much more to do. For instance, we need an all-weather area so we can exercise the horses and ponies ‘whatever the weather’ during their rehabilitation period and also to re-train those who can be fostered through our loan scheme. To raise more funds we would also like to construct a small wooden gift shop and information area at the Centre. However, at present our funds are so meagre that the all-weather area and gift-shop are out of the question for the foreseeable future. Thank you ! |
